Phase I in the Books
This winter/spring the Summit Football team implemented a new weight lifting program. The program focused on lifting four days a week right after school to give everyone a better opportunity to make the lifts as compared to the former winter lifting in the morning. There was a good increase in the number of players who would attend and we had a core group of players that rarely missed a lift from February-May, with all of those players seeing an improvement in all lifts.
Players who were not currently in a sport were encouraged to come so their strength & agility improvement could begin earlier, to give them the best opportunity to play on Friday nights. I can say, those who took advantage of the open weight room has seen outstanding improvements and some even had squat gains of up to 70lbs since the football season. Not only have we gotten stronger as a team, but we have grown closer, becoming more comfortable in pushing each other and keeping each other accountable.
The coaching staff is very pleased with the improvements we have made in the weight room over this time and expect to see more players attending weight room sessions over the summer into the season. We will have two lifting times on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday during the month of June to allow for anyone that might have a summer job make one of those sessions.
Our off-season captains Warren Hill, Christian Kuethe & Armand Walker will be leading us during Phase II (which starts this June). Summit Football teams will always player for their seniors & we believe we have three hard working seniors that will hold their teammates accountable & lead workouts with intensity.
Now is when games are won, injuries are prevented and we start to come together as a Family by working hard, together during the pre-season.

2011 Football Season Awards Round-Up
The 2011 Football season found the Summit Silver Knights earning a 7-4 record and back in the State Playoffs for the second year in a row. The Knights finished tied for 3rd in the Miami Valley Conference, a conference that proved to be one of the toughest in the state by sending 5 teams to the playoffs. Traveling to Pleasant was a great experience for this 2011 team and though the game didn’t go how we planned, it will prove to be valuable for the young players who gained playoff experience and will benefit the future of Summit Football. The seniors should be proud of their accomplishments in the 2011 team and how they led this team into making history, by making the playoffs two years in a row, a first for Summit Football. The entire 2011 team should be proud of the legacy they created and how they sent their seniors off with a winning record over the course of their 4 years with the program, which is a spectacular achievement.

2011 Legacy – Season to Remember
The 2011 Football season found the Summit Silver Knights earning a 7-4 record and back in the State Playoffs for the second year in a row. Though many individual performances were extraordinary and we reached our goal of going back to the playoffs, it was this 2011 team coming together as a family that really was the most special. There are many things that as a team we will always remember, like winning with one minute left to take home the Country Day Cup for a second year in a row, but it will be the tough, hot practices in August, team meals, chapel services and going to battle every Friday night as a family that will be the greatest memories of this season.
The 2010 team made the Ohio State Playoffs for the first time in 10 years and the 2011 team, led by a great group of seniors, were determined they would not be out done. The team posted a 7-4 record and made history, by making the playoffs two years in a row, a first for Summit Football. This 2011 team should be proud of the legacy they created and how they sent their seniors off with a winning record over the course of their 4 years with the program, which is a spectacular achievement.
Summit Football players had a great showing in postseason awards.

My first year as a head football coach was a very special one, not to mention the most fun I've ever had. The coaching staff and I can’t thank the team enough for their hard work throughout the 2011 season. To the 2011 senior class, you are all talented and smart young men and the world is in good hands with you all as future leaders. Thank you for a great year and I’ll always remember my first year as a head coach as a very special one.
Knights!

Team Awards
2011 Summit Football Team Awards were handed out at the end of the year banquet on November 16th. There are 5 awards, some new this year, that are handed out. Three of them are based off of the three pillars of the program, Accountability, Toughness and Discipline. The awards and their definitions are below.
The Silver Knight Award - Most valuable football player on the team. The winner of this award should be a person that gave his all for the team and without their leadership and hard work we don't have the great season we do.
The Team Award - Exemplified by willingness to play different positions, in different games throughout the entire season, putting team success above desire.
The Accountability Award - Toughest, most dedicated person on the team. This winner should reflect not just what that person has given in the current year, but throughout their entire career as a Summit Football player.
The Toughness Award - Player who showed unbelievable toughness playing through injuries, playing both ways and playing on almost all special teams. This player never complained about being tired, hurt or practice being too hard.
The Discipline Award - Player that worked through adversity to contribute on Friday nights and during the week at practice to make the team better and be a part of the team in any capacity. Helped pick teammates up and encouraged them to keep playing hard.
The 2011 award winners are:
LaDon Laney Jr. – The Silver Knight Award
Michael Barwick Jr. – The Team Award
William Temizer – The Accountability Award
Max Williams – The Toughness Award
Gabe Scott – The Discipline Award
Congratulations!

2011 Playoff Regional Quarterfinals – Knights Aim to Make More History
The 2011 season has been a great one for the Summit Football team. Though many individual performances have been extraordinary, it is theteam coming together as a family that has been the most special. There are many things that we, as a team, will take from the regular season, one being a thrilling victory inside the last minute to take home the Country Day Cup for a second year in a row.
Last year saw the Summit Football program go to the playoffs for the first time in 10 years and this year’s team decided they would not be out done. With our playoff hopes in the balance and having to face New Miami in a tough road test, the Silver Knights came to play last Friday night, winning 37-0, giving us a chance of making the playoffs.
It wasn’t until Sunday when we found out we made the playoffs, a well-deserved playoff appearance for a hardworking, dedicated team. The 2011 Silver Knights play disciplined football, but more importantly we play as a family, for each other. Many people would see our final victory of the season being motivated to make the playoffs, but I believe much of that motivation came from not wanting this special season to end so we had at least one more opportunity to go to battle with each other, giving ourselves a chance to keep playing.
Summit Football made history in 2011, earning a playoff berth, making it 2 years in a row for the first time. The Silver Knights aim to make more history this Friday at Marion Pleasant, when they have the opportunity to win the first playoff game in school history. The task will prove tough as Marion Pleasant is 10-0 and will have the advantage of playing on their home turf. You can expect to see a hard hitting game as both teams want to run the ball and control the line of scrimmage.
We hope to see you at Marion Pleasant on Friday. The support for the team has been incredible all year and we’ll need you more than ever on Friday night at Pleasant. Let’s win this one for the seniors!
Beat Pleasant!
